Troll Biology

Trolls as a whole have gray skin, black hair, and yellow sclera with black pupils. In comparison to humans they are stronger and more resilient. Their skin is thick and durable but smooth to the touch with little to no body hair. Their ears are pointed, their teeth are sharp, and they have candy corn striped horns that come in an endless variety of shapes and sizes. Their horns can be sensitive to touch, especially close to the skull, but can lose sensation if properly toughened, a lot like calluses on human feet and hands. Since a troll’s horns continue to grow throughout their entire life, there is a blood vessel that runs the length of them to keep them alive. Breaking a horn is extremely painful for a troll, possibly even causing it to bleed. While a horn can be healed if braced properly, snap part off and the broken piece will die if not treated immediately.

Trolls have what is known as a hemospectrum, which means they come in a variety of blood colors that span the colors of the rainbow. Lowbloods tend to have a higher body temperature and fangs, while higher blood colors are cooler but are more likely to have an entire mouth full of sharp teeth. If broken or lost, troll teeth grow back. Lowblood trolls tend to have more instances of psychic abilities, and have a much shorter life span.

Ironically, the hot blooded trolls have a far more even temperament than the cooler, who tend to be vastly more violent and unpredictable higher up on the spectrum. Highbloods live much longer and the highest nearly insanely long.

The royal class of trolls is almost a separate species from the others, beings that they are aquatic. They have fins along their jawline, and a set of gills along the throat and rib cage that allow them to breathe underwater indefinitely.

Troll reproduction is far from human reproduction, as both trolls contain the ability to hold genetic material until the need to deposit it in buckets for the drones who come to collect it. As such all trolls have the ability to take and give genetic material to each other regardless of gender. Several sessions may be needed to produce enough genetic material to satisfy the drones.
